France

For over all variety with minimal logistics, France truly has it all.   Having spent 11 years traveling to France and climbing all over the Country, let us assure you there is no shortage of options for all abilities alike.   France might be most famous for it’s limestone, but there is no shortage of variety.  Some not to miss locations in the south of France would be climbing in Les Calanque on multi pitch limestone routes over the Mediterranean.  While there plan on circling back north to hit the world class limestone big walls of the Verdon Gorge.

I would describe the Verdon as the limestone version the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.  Big days and commitment as you drop into the canyon for a big wall adventure of a lifetime in an amazing setting.  Not far from there is the world class crag of Ceuse, home of the first 5.15 in the world Realization or Biographie if you want to conform to the history of the route.

Near Briancon there must be 10’s of thousands of routes on limestone walls up to 20 pitches.  Whatever you fancy,  it is hard to drive more then an hour through France without arriving at another climbing crag.  The logistics of travel due to the highly advanced public transportation system makes it easy to network and sample many crags in a short time.

Lets see what fancy’s you and build the cragging trip that suits your goals and abilities.
