Rock climbing is the foundation to mountaineering. It teaches you movement skills that will help in any mountaineering pursuit including skiing. If Europe suits your adventure may I suggest the Chamonix Valley. Chamonix offers endless stretches of amazing rock. The high alpine spires that stretch high above the town and rise straight from the glaciers of the Mount Blanc Massif will be something to remember. Chamonix hosts some of the best Alpine Granite in Europe and will make you feel like you have truly left the civilized world behind. In addition to the high alpine granite , the Valley hosts many multi pitch limestone walls and crags to suit any level.
Other favorite spots in Europe include, the Verdon Gorge where it is possible to do 500 meter sport routes on some of the cleanest and most featured limestone in the world. Not too far from here is the south of France where it is possible to climb in the Calaunqe. This place positions you high over the Meditaranian Sea where it is possible to do multi pitch limestone routes right over the Sea. If the sea is not your fancy, then the La Grave valley in the Ecrin National park hosts some long Alpine granite rock routes with amazing support in huts at the base of many famous spires. Some classics of the park are the South Face of La Meije and the Dibona Spire. There are many options in the Argentiere and Briancon Valleys for long multi pitch days on amazing limestone.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rock climber, Joe can help you achieve your goals while maximizing your time in the mountains. For first time climbers, we suggest top-roping or introductory multi-pitch climbing. Intermediate and advanced climbers can further their rock climbing skills through anchor building, learning to lead, rock rescue or developing technique for harder climbs. Joe can also teach to all abilities and can manage anything from large corporate groups down to private one-on-one outings. In addition to these groups Joe can also work with Military groups who wish to broaden a specialized team skill sets. Joe also has experience working with rigging for difficult situations and has worked numerous courses with the FBI to educate personal on difficult scenes in high angle environments.
